About this camp

Girls at Blaze Robotics Academy design, build, and program VEX IQ robots in a supportive, all-female environment. Participants engage in hands-on activities, learning fundamental concepts of robot design and programming. The curriculum emphasizes the engineering design process, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Students will gain skills in physics, coding (using Scratch/C++), and mechanical engineering concepts such as force, torque, friction, bracing, stability, and gear ratios. The camp culminates in friendly challenges and showcases where students present their projects, fostering a sense of accomplishment and preparing them for potential competitive robotics.

What a typical day looks like

A typical day involves a morning session of interactive instruction and hands-on activities, followed by a short break, and then a continuation of robotics projects. After a lunch break, the afternoon consists of more engaging learning activities and project work, with student pick-up at 3pm or extended care until 5pm.

Best suited for

This camp is ideal for middle school girls with little or no prior experience in VEX IQ or robotics who are eager to explore STEM, develop engineering and coding skills, and potentially pursue competitive robotics.
