About this camp

The NYU Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a state-funded, non-credit pre-college enrichment program designed to prepare talented and motivated middle and high school students (grades 7-12) from New York State for STEM careers. The program offers immersive courses, workshops, and supervised training led by NYU faculty and co-taught by NYU students. Participants engage in morning enrichment classes covering typical secondary school curriculum, including various levels of mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, and Calculus BC) and an English Seminar to develop critical thinking and written communication skills. Afternoon elective classes incorporate hands-on techniques and interdisciplinary themes, connecting students to real-world opportunities in fields like internet technologies, art and design, engineering, publishing, clinical medicine, and other math and science careers. High school juniors and seniors also benefit from college preparation services, including test prep, career exploration seminars, and panel discussions with professionals. Students in grades 11 and 12 have the unique opportunity to conduct scientific or technological research at NYU facilities and present their findings at the annual STEP State Conference.
