About this camp

The Rockefeller University Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) is a highly selective, seven-week immersive program for high school juniors and seniors. Students engage in hands-on biomedical research, working within small teams led by scientific trainees from Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Weill Cornell Medicine. Participants design and conduct their own experiments, learn essential laboratory techniques, and develop critical skills in scientific reasoning, data analysis, and problem-solving. The program culminates in a symposium where students present their research findings to peers and faculty. Beyond lab work, the SSRP experience is enriched with guest lectures, workshops, networking opportunities, and social events, fostering a comprehensive understanding of scientific inquiry and a collaborative research environment.

What a typical day looks like

Most days are spent in the lab, working directly with a graduate student or postdoc mentor, running experiments, and contributing to real data. The program also includes daily scheduled activities such as guest lectures, workshops, networking opportunities, and social events.
